Background

ASENET (The ASEAN Student Entrepreneurship Network) is a regional student network that promotes entrepreneurship at the university level in a proactive and holistic way. It was first initiated by USM (Universiti Sains Malaysia) which was launched on January, 23, 2016. The purpose of this activity is expected to ensure the development and improvement of the entrepreneurship sector at the university level in Asean.

ASENet is a container containing 10 countries representatives, consisting of Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Brunei, Kamboja, Laos, Vietnam, Myanmar, Filipina, dan Indonesia.

Through this ASENet program, the members of these countries are expected to gain insight and experience on entrepreneurship including issues related to its challenges, global ideas and innovation. It is especially to provide enrichment in the framework of thinking and business identification by using Business Model Canvas.

The actualization of ASENet in 2018 will be implemented with the theme of “Creative Entrepreneur for Creative Economy

Objectives
The objectives of the ASENet Convention are:

  • Inviting universities in Asean to become a member of ASENet (both domestic and overseas).
  • Providing workshop and motivation to ASENet member students. This workshop is dealt by trainers and creative businessmen who have been successful in their field.
  • Strengthening relationship among students in Asean who are entrepreneurial with the establishment of “Student Council”, so that this will be a forum for mentoring and sharing information.
  • Approving an entrepreneurship curriculum that can be used within the scope of universities in Asean.
  • Introducing creative products from members of Asean and non-Asean participants.
